Zoo Day!

We finally had a Saturday that wasn't filled with house/yard work, so we decided to take Halle to the zoo.  We started out at the train, and then went to see the animals.  She loved the elephants and the penguins the most.  Each time we went to a new exhibit, she would put her face up to the fence and pretty much try to jump in.  It was a great family day.

The lion water fountain was another big hit.

6 Random Things About Me

I got tagged by Dani to share 6 random things about me.  I don't think I'm that exciting, but here goes...

1.  I hate scrapbooking!  I always feel like a loser mom, because I don't get into scrapbooking.  I even joined a scrapbooking club, because I thought I was supposed to like scrapbooking.  I ended up just spending a lot of money on stuff I don't use.  I just put my photos into an album.  Boring,
I know!

2.  I love to work in the yard.  Sam and I love to spend Saturdays planting, cleaning, mowing, etc.  I guess it is because we were both raised in families where yard work was a priority.  Halle even gets into the yard work, but her idea of yard work is digging for worms and potato bugs.

3.  I love reading!  Sam always gets bugged when I get a new book, because I completely close out the world.  I have a hard time closing books!  I am currently reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer.

4.  I am a sports fanatic!  I guess it's because I grew up with brothers, but I know a lot about sports.  I hit all of the BYU message boards, read the sports page first, and listen to sports talk radio.  I guess it's only fitting that I met Sam waiting in line to buy BYU football tickets.

5.  I am a home remodeler.  When we first bought our home, we thought it would be fun to fix it up together.  Well, it hasn't necessarily been fun, but I love the results.  So far, we've replaced the interior doors and baseboard, added a bathroom, painted and painted and painted again, and most recently, installed new carpet.  Lucky for us, Sam's cousin Brad provides all of the tools and the "know how."

6.  I absolutely love Costco.  One of our favorite things to do as a family is to go to Costco and wander the aisles.  Sam always tells me that I can buy anything as long as it comes from Costco.  Even Halle likes it!  She always tells Devin that her favorite thing to do is "go to Costco, get hot dog."

Now, it's your turn.  I tag Bethany, Alison, Dede & Megan.

The Countdown Begins

I only have a week left of school.  Usually this would thrill me, but I won't be teaching next year, so I'm a little sad.  I have loved teaching at South Jordan Middle School.  I really think that I might miss my little preteen friends.  Even though somedays I feel like pulling my hair out, each day is a new adventure, which makes my job the best.  One day I may be carting students off to the office because they let fireworks off in the hall (actually happened), and on another day I get to listen to a 13-year-old talk to their mom on the phone about PDA because he/she was caught kissing in the hall.

Mostly, though, I will miss my friends.  I work with some of the very best people.  It is so fun to come to work to laugh and talk with other teachers.  We usually spend more time talking about life than work, but that makes it fun!  So, to Megan, Mindy, Carissa, and Jessica...I'll miss you!  Keep me in the loop!

A New Adventure

I feel like I'm the last person to start a blog, but better late than never, right?!?  Hopefully this will be a good way to keep up with friends and family.  I'll try to post often, but I'm not making any promises.  I'll add pictures later.
