My Brave Girl

Halle had her tonsils and adenoids taken out yesterday at Primary Children's Hospital.  She has been suffering from sleep apnea, which her doctor accredited to her huge tonsils.  Her surgery was about 40 minutes long, which felt about 10 times that long.  It was so hard sitting in the waiting room, but we were grateful that she was only there to get her tonsils removed.  Being in that hospital reminded us of how blessed we are to have a healthy little girl.

When the surgery was over, she was pretty mad because she hated her IV and her hospital bracelet.  After the anesthesia wore off, she started to perk up a little and was healthy enough to go home.

Since then, she has been pretty tired and sore.  She has to take medicine 6 times a day, which makes life very difficult, since Halle has never been a big fan of medication.  Luckily, Grandma Jackie brought her a new blankie and movie to make healing a little easier.

We are hoping that each day gets easier, but we feel blessed that everything went well.

Ward Camp Out

We took Halle on her very first camp out Friday night.  Aside for the lack of sleep, it turned out great.  This was Sam's first activity as Ward Activities Director, so it took a lot planning to get to the campsite.  Unfortunately, we spent so much time planning for the ward activities, dessert, and breakfast, that we forgot to plan for our own camping.  We forgot basic things like blankets, a pad to sleep on, a hot dog roasting stick, etc.  Now that we know how to camp, we will probably go again this summer.  It was lots of fun!

Halle waiting in line for the zip line.  For a three-year-old, she's pretty brave!

Sam is an Eagle Scout, but this fire took him about 45 minutes to start.
Needless to say, we are not good campers!

It's a Boy!

We went to our ultrasound today, and we were thrilled to find out that we are having a boy!  Well, almost everyone was happy.  Halle was really hoping for a little sister, but we are hoping she gets used to the idea of having a little brother.  I can't wait to start buying blue things.  I'm sure he'll be decked out in every BYU baby shirt out there!  We don't know about a name yet, but I am going through lots of options in my head.  Sam says that we can always name him Bronco if the Cougars have a good year.

Water Day!

Halle, Quinci and McConnell (the neighbor kids) have been patiently waiting for a warm day to get out all of the water toys.  They started at our house and played with the rocket, then headed over to the Johnson's to slip 'n slide, and then back to our house to play in the pool.  They ran around and laughed all afternoon.  Oh, to be little again!

Getting Used to New Life

I've officially been out of school for a week, and I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what to do with my time.  My days pretty much go like this:  clean the house, get ready, do some sort of project, make lunch, and spend the afternoon outside with Halle and the neighbor kids (my tan has improved in a week).  I love spending time with Halle, but I need to get used to being at home so much.  I am used to running around the clock, so taking life easy is quite the adjustment.  I know I need to appreciate the time, because once the baby comes, life won't be so simple anymore.

Events of the week:
*Sam got called to be Ward Activities Director, so now we get the opportunity to put together the ward camp out (to be held next weekend)

*Halle is speaking in the third person lately.  Sam keeps calling her Karl Malone.  Today's comment:  "Mom, Halle doesn't want to clean her toy room.  Halle thinks that you should do it."

*We got a new computer!  I am a total Mac girl, and since we had to turn in my iBook laptop, we decided to get the new iMac.  It is totally sweet.  I still need to figure out how to do everything on it.  And a plus, we got a iPod Touch for free.  Now, that is a cool invention.

*We found out that Halle has to get her tonsils taken out.  She has been snoring a lot lately, so I took her in to the pediatrician to rule things out, when I found out that she has HUGE tonsils!  We meet with the Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor on Friday to figure everything out.

*We find out what we are having next Thursday, so stay tuned!

Now that I see everything that has happened this week, maybe my life isn't so boring after all!
